Blakeney Red pears in SE London ?

Had some excellent home made perry at a party, from tree in their back garden, I  think it may be a Blakney Red tree.

Also visited another tree a few streets away , sadly most of the fruit had dropped bout will go back there next year to pick .

Thus more investigation required as the road is called Perry Rise, in a ward called Perry Vale all interesting as this is not West Country but SE london !

Trip to local History library to see what was there before the houses, could turn up something ....

  1. It's worth baring in mind that Blakeney Red pears were also used extensively during the war years as a dye for khaki uniforms. They crop up in unlikely places as a result.
