CAMRA cider social at Red Lion

Apple day at the London Wildlife Trust Garden in Peckham (Marsden Road Se15)

Arranged by LWT (www.wildlondon.org.uk/) and London Orchard Project (thelondonorchardproject.org/). The day had apple pressing demonstrations lots of people enjoying the fresh apple juice and taking part in mashing a pressing. First trial of the pedal powered scratter, good milling, but chain adjustment required, not bad for £16 outlay and using reclaimed materials.

Met up with east Dulwich Orchard collective, who are making their own cider I have a bottle to sample, will let you know what it is like in due course. Great to find a cider maker (apart from me) in London.

I ran a cider taste and talk to 25 people, had a selection of Ross On Wye, Castle And Wiscombe Cider, with an overview of cider producing regions, apple varieties, cider ingredients and the process of cider making.
Various other activities of nature trails, poetry, bee talks, longest apple core, all added up to a very pleasant afternoon.
